The History and Meaning of Through-net Ping-Pong

"Through-net Ping-Pong" is a new kind of sport which was born in Yamanashi prefecture in japan.
While the members of the Ping-Pong Club for the Blind were practicing through-net ping-pong at the Yamanashi Volunteer Center, they met members of the high school volunteer group, SKY. This encounter caused a change in the "minor" image of blind ping-pong and renewed its object; regardless of the existence of disability and age, and they can play with the same rules. The name, through-net ping-pong was named after the character of this sport, that is to roll a ball under the net rather than hitting it over. The blind Ping-Pong Club and SKY. instituted yamanashi Through-net Ping-Pong Asociation together in 1990, and instituted All Japan Through-net Ping-Pong Asociation in 1995. In Chiba, We instituted Chiba Through-net Ping-Pong Asociation in 1993. Now, There are more~than 200 Players in Japan.

How to play : roll a ball under the net on the table. Be sure to put a lead ball inside a ping-pong ball in order to prevent it from bouncing too high. Use the wooden surface of the racket to hit the ball, not the rubber surface. The table for this sport has side guards to keep balls from falling off the table. Also, there are other devices for this sport, of jointles wood to prevent irregular bounds.
The purpose of the through-net ping-pong is not only to improve this sport as a light sport, but to keep the meaningful rules which allow all pepole whether handicapped or not, young or old, to play in the same field. Also it helps to clear various barriers in society and realize a society where all people can lead worthwhile lives wherever they live.
They say that in Australia there is a similar sport called "SWISH", and that shows us people play many styles of sports with common substance all over the world.
